About the Fire Foundation of Colorado Springs
Our Misson
Supporting the Colorado Springs Fire Department Since 2015
The Foundation’s mission is to strengthen the Colorado Springs Fire Department’s services while promoting excellence in the department and improving public safety by providing resources not otherwise available from the city.
Strengthening the Colorado Springs Fire Department through financial support
Promoting promoting excellence in the CSFD while improving public safety
Ensuring proper resources, equipment, and training are available for CSFD
Building partnerships between CSFD and local businesses and community
Our Purpose
Before most of us have finished our first cup of coffee, Colorado Springs firefighters may already be responding to a structure fire, a cardiac arrest, a high-angle rescue, or a wildfire sparked by shifting winds. Every call demands precision, courage, and the right equipment in the right moment.
Behind every successful response is preparation. Training. Technology. Support.
Our Goals
The Foundation exists to advance public safety through strategic partnership and targeted investment. Our goals include:
- Providing financial support to the Colorado Springs Fire Department
- Strengthening the partnership between CSFD, local businesses, and the broader community
- Ensuring firefighters have the resources, equipment, and training necessary to deliver the highest level of fire protection and emergency response services
Every initiative is guided by one central objective: equipping our firefighters to serve Colorado Springs with excellence, professionalism, and preparedness.
Uniting the Community and the Fire Department
Public safety is strongest when citizens, businesses, and firefighters work together. The Foundation plays a key role in building and maintaining that connection.
Our volunteer board members actively engage with community and business leaders across the city, seeking input on how to make our fire department stronger through meaningful funding opportunities.
Working in partnership with fire department leadership, the board helps ensure the department understands and responds to the evolving needs and expectations of our community. Board members also collaborate directly with CSFD to identify funding priorities that align with public interest and long-term safety goals.
The Foundation supports opportunities for citizens to engage directly with the fire department, including ride-alongs and tours, helping foster greater understanding of the department’s work and daily responsibilities.
Through ongoing communication among the board, department leadership, and the community, the Foundation promotes accountability, good stewardship of funds, and strategic planning for future needs.
Governance and Leadership
The Fire Foundation of Colorado Springs is governed by a board of directors composed of respected community leaders. Board members serve in a volunteer capacity and are committed to responsible oversight and transparent decision-making.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department is represented at board meetings by an ex-officio board member who is also a CSFD employee, ensuring strong coordination and alignment between the Foundation and department leadership.
Together, this governance structure ensures that funds are managed carefully, partnerships are strategic, and every initiative remains focused on strengthening public safety for the people of Colorado Springs.
